Solmax completes the acquisition of the geotextile fabric manufacturer – nonwoven industry magazine

Solmax has completed the acquisition of Propex, a leading North American manufacturer of geosynthetics with extensive experience in the construction, transportation, flood protection and automotive industries.

Award-winning manufacturer and provider of low-carbon solutions, Propex has a rich history and an enviable reputation for innovation, expertise, service excellence and value. Producing a wide range of geosynthetic products and erosion control systems, its solutions are used in the construction of key infrastructure projects including dikes, roads, bridges and airports. The use of geotextiles in transportation construction and erosion control applications has the potential to save billions of dollars in construction costs each year.

Propex’s innovative geotextiles are manufactured in Ringgold, Georgia, and shipped to customers in more than 35 countries around the world. The factory also houses an on-site testing facility certified by the Geosynthetic Accreditation Institute / Laboratory Accreditation Program (GAI-LAP) and is compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001.

Commenting on the acquisition, John Henderson, President of Solmax Americas, said, “We are delighted to complete this important acquisition. Propex is a recognized leader in geosynthetic products and solutions in North America. This acquisition expands the products and solutions that Solmax can offer its customers in many different market segments. It also provides us with additional expertise and capacity in nonwoven geotextile to further expand our footprint in the environment and civil infrastructure markets. “

Mike Gorey, CEO of Propex, adds, “The combination of the strengths of our companies will lead to long-term growth and increased capacity to meet the growing demand for environmentally sustainable solutions. As a leader in infrastructure products and services, we harness the ability to increase the adoption rate of superior solutions over traditional methods.

The purchase of Propex complements Solmax’s existing product portfolio by expanding its presence in the turf reinforcement market, with a focus on superior erosion control on steep slopes and vegetated waterways. This is a new market segment for Solmax and represents another value-added solution for its customers and the engineering community around the world. In addition, innovative products developed by Propex for the road rehabilitation market will also complete the Solmax portfolio.
