On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina is opening its first restaurant in Anchorage, Alaska in mid-June 2022. Gateway to Alaskan adventure will soon feature authentic Tex-Mex specialties at first outlet retail and entertainment center of Alaska, Tikahtnu Commons. On The Border is known for its daring border-style favorites, like frozen margaritas and sizzling fajitas grilled over mesquite wood and served in generous portions.
“We are thrilled to launch Alaska’s first-ever On The Border restaurant,” said Jack Lewis, owner and operations manager of Firetap Tikahtnu, LLC and whose last Anchorage landmark was the Sourdough Mining Co. restaurant. “The Tikahtnu Commons outdoor mall will be a perfect fit for On The Border’s vibrant atmosphere and premium brand. The new restaurant will be within walking distance of great shopping, entertainment and we look forward to bringing the flavors bold ideas from Texas and Mexico to the people of Anchorage.
Originally from the East Coast, Lewis moved to Alaska after spending several years working for the McDonald’s company. He was looking for adventure after college, but after meeting a few local restaurateurs in the area, he saw an opportunity to leverage his experience in the industry and built his life and career in Anchorage. Since then, Lewis has opened several concepts in the area, including Sourdough Mining Company, Firetap Alehouse, McGinley’s Irish Pub, The New Peanut Farm Sports Grill, Burgerfi and Krispy Kreme Donuts. Through this new partnership with On The Border, he looks forward to bringing an exciting new concept to Anchorage that will appeal to a diverse demographic.
In preparation for the upcoming opening, On The Border will be hiring more than 80 new team members for multiple positions at the Anchorage restaurant. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply in person, via email by sending their CV to https://apply.jobappnetwork.com/firetap-otb/en or by texting OTBAK applicants on 85000 to be directed to the career page.
“We are excited to grow our family of franchises and bring our fun and relaxed environment to new places like Tikahtnu Commons,” said On The Border CEO Tim Ward. “We look forward to the grand opening of our newsworthy specialties and energetic atmosphere when we open our doors in Anchorage this summer.”
